  7. Here is what you have all been waiting for.  This is a version of the
  8. final set of disks which are being mailed to all registered users of
  9. version 1.x.  The mail out starts Tuesday May 25th 1993, and is
  10. expected to take a week. (Yes, the disks are finally being duplicated <g>)
  11.

  77. About the Gravis Nodes
  78. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  79.  All nodes are independent BBSs', and are not run or sponsored by Gravis.  As
  80.  such the logon procedures for each BBS may vary.  For instance, some give
  81.  you immediate access, while others have a probation period which may last
  82.  several days.  All nodes are encouraged to offer all the Gravis files and
  83.  messages to first time callers but this may not always be the case.
  84.  
  85.  If you are interested in becoming an Authorized Gravis Node you may file
  86.  request or download GRAV-APP.ZIP from the Gravis BBS.

  115. There are about 8Mb of files.  This roughly translates to 8 hours
  116. of downloading at 2400 baud or 90 minutes at 14400 bps.  Keep this in
  117. mind if you are calling long distance.
  118.  
  119. You will need to unzip each file to a seperate 1.44Mb 3 1/2" disk to
  120. install.  You can NOT simply unzip all the files into a DOS directory
  121. and install them from there.  Each disk was designed to completly fill
  122. a 1.44Mb floppy when uncompressed.  Because ZIP added a few extra bytes
  123. to each file you will NOT be able to copy the .ZIP files to a floppy,
  124. unzip them first.

  127. What About the Bonus Software
  128. -----------------------------

  130. The version which will be distributed on the computer networks is V2.06L,
  131. (the L stands for lite), which does NOT include Power Chords or MidiSoft.
  132. Both these programs are COMMERCIAL programs and can NOT be distributed.
  133. The mail out will consist of V2.06 which WILL include these disks.  All
  134. future versions of UltraSound will also include these bonus programs.

  137. What Has Changed

  142. Mostly the install.  If you'll remember, we released V2.02 of the software
  143. to the computer networks in March.  This allowed us to get some valuable
  144. feedback from you on what was wrong or missing.
  145.  
  146. Quickly, here is what has changed.
  147.   SETGUS - Setgus will not put its LOG file in your UltraSound directory
  148.            instead of your current directory.
  149.   Patchs - A much better Honky Tonk Piano
  150.          - Inst #84 is now Charang
  151.   SBOS   - What can I say
  152.   Windows Install - No longer dies if the user has files set to < 20
  153.                   - Now checks to see if they are running a shell other
  154.                     than progman
  155.                   - Makes sure your GUS Windows drivers are in the right
  156.                     place
  157.                   - Fixed major problem if users were upgrading from V1.x
  158.                     of the Windows software.
  159.   DOS Install - Runs setgus before the install to verify the GUS is
  160.                 working correctly
  161.               - Allows you to restore a single or group of files
  162.               - Removes the temporary directory created by Windows
  163.               - Warn the user that STACKER and DOUBLE SPACE may not be
  164.                 returning the true drive space remaining.
  165.               - By reading the ULTRADIR and ULTRASND enviro variables
  166.                 determine if this is a new install or an upgrade

  173. EVERYTHING!  I'm including parts of the README file that talk about some
  174. of these changes.  For a complete explanation please refer to the COMPLETE
  175. README.  Also, printed documenation will be mailed out to all registered
  176. GUS owners.  So send in those registration cards!
